2007 Pinot Noir, 'Bella Vigna', Sonoma Coast
Winemaker’s Vineyard Notes: Steeply sloped (think “black diamond” for all you folks who snow ski), southeasterly facing hillside. Goldridge loam soils. One fifth Swan clone and four fifths 777 was the take this year. Ton and a quarter to the acre. Harvested on October 2nd.
Winemaker’s Tasting Notes: 100% French Oak, 35% new wood. Punch downs only. Indigenous yeast primary fermentation and natural completion of ML. Unfined, unfiltered. Garnet in color. Expressive nose of dark cherry, cranberry, wild strawberry, and orange pekoe tea. Secondary notes of rose petal, game and a hint of mint. Full-bodied, silky mouthful of dark cherry, boysenberry, and plum. Finishes long with notes of raspberry and tea and the perfect amount of acidity.
