2011 Pinot Noir, 'Bella Vigna' Sonoma Coast
Winemaker's Vineyard Notes: Organically farmed, cool climate site, steeply sloped (think Black Diamond for all you skiers), southeastern facing, Goldridge loam soils, with 777 and Swan clones. Yields were at a ton per acre.
Winemaker’s Tasting Notes: Bottled unfined and unfiltered. Aged in 45% new French oak. Lighter shade of ruby red in color. Perfumy raspberry jam, cranberry, spicy clove with hints of hedgehog mushrooms and sassafras tea. Silky, medium-bodied flavors of wild strawberrry, sassafras tea, and Baker’s chocolate. Extraordinarily long finish with hints of cranberry and tobacco, subtle tannins, and wonderful acidity.
