Winemaker’s Vineyard Notes: Sustainably farmed, cool climate vineyard site, Goldridge loam soils. Normal spring, solid set, warm summer, above average yields, later harvest. Yield of 3.9 tons to the acre. 1/2 clone 115 and 1/2 clone 667.
Winemaker’s Tasting Notes: Stainless steel fermented, aged for 16 months sur lees in 100% French oak; 35% new oak. Deep ruby in color. Big, expressive nose of chocolate covered oranges, dark cherry, rhubarb pie and hint of cinnamon. Background notes of African spices and Bing cherry. Intense flavors of dark cherry, huckleberry and baker’s chocolate. Background hints of orange pekoe tea and tobacco. Finishes long with ripe tannins and notes of cardamom and raspberry.
