Winemaker’s Vineyard Notes: Cool climate area of south Napa known as Coombsville. Estrella River and Syrah Noir clones. Harvested October 5th and 9th.

Winemaker’s Tasting Notes: 27 months sur lees aging in French oak, 20% new wood. 50% Whole Cluster. Indigenous yeast primary fermentation and natural completion of ML. Punch downs only. No SO2 added until one month prior to bottling, which is when we racked the wine for the only time. Unfined, unfiltered. Dark, red beet, leaning toward purple is the color. Big nose of violets, white pepper, anise, cassis, orange peel, and red meats. Gigantic mouthful of brambly blackberry, cassis, and a bit of chewy tannin framed by super dark (think 90% cacao) chocolate.
