Dear Friend,
The year 2002 turned out to be a life changing year for Jamey and me. It was the year we met and the very first vintage of Whetstone. This year, we’ll celebrate 20 years of marriage, and we’re so grateful to all of you who have supported our partnership and journey through the years.
One thing I can tell you – we’re just getting started!
This Fall Release feels especially meaningful as it celebrates collaboration and a return to our roots – bringing back our Jon Boat wine program, which you may remember if you’ve been with us since those early days.

A Note From Jamey:
I’ve met tons of folks in the California wine industry. The ones that interest me the most are the true vignerons; a rare breed of men and women that know how to drive a tractor, dial in a spray rig, adjust the tank thermostat during fermentation, and head out into the wild blue yonder to sell their wares.
Enter Lee Hudson.
Hudson Vineyards and Winery is one of the true showplaces in the Napa Valley. Personal to the owner who planted the vineyards, it screams of Lee and Cristina’s heritage. Lee and I have formed a deep friendship based on decades of mutual respect as vignerons, and a love of the edge with laughter and fun rolled up into the mix. Whetstone bought Chardonnay for a handful of years from Hudson that went into a bottling we lovingly named El Pajaro, after my first born.
Now, we have the luxury of bringing some of the 2024 Grenache into our Jon Boat wine program alongside the 2023 vintage of always beloved ‘Walala’ Pinot Noir. Stoked would be an understatement. 100% Grenache that actually harkens to the southern Rhone is hard to come by in California.
We hope you are as tickled with the juice as we are. Drink it now or cellar it and be rewarded as the years roll by. I mean, in terms of pairing with my spirit animal… pig never tasted so good.
