Before vineyards and barrels – there was a boat.

For long-time fans of our Pinot program … The Jon Boat line of wines is BACK at Whetstone!
I have spent the last 29 years of my life working in vineyards all over the state. I base my living off the fruit and resulting wines I craft, shape, and mold into something delicious. Along the way, I’ve found a treasure trove of awesome vineyards that, when combined, make awesome wine and bring back our beloved Jon Boat Pinot.
For those of you who weren’t around in the earlier years or familiar with the back story – at the age of 10, I was given my first 13-foot Monark Jon Boat with a Johnson 9.9 motor. I lived on that boat during my summers spent at my grandparents condo on the sound of Litchfield Beach, SC.
While most of you know me to be an unhinged social butterfly, I was a very solitary little dude. Flounder fishing, crabbing, and hunting shark’s teeth were my world during those summers. I’ll get back there someday in earnest, but until then, I’ll live vicariously through memories.
